BACE Expands Manufacturing Operations

BACE (Baler and Compaction Equipment), a Charlotte-based manufacturer of balers, has added 26,000-square feet of manufacturing space to support its growth. The expansion was completed in late December 2011.

Global Scrap Management Opening Aluminum Ingot Plant

Global Scrap Management (GSM), Milford, Ohio, has announced plans to open an aluminum ingot production facility in Batavia, Ohio. The company says that its new division, known as Altimet, will install new melt technology that will allow the company to provide higher yields and reduce the cost of transforming scrap into aluminum ingots. GSM, founded in 2003, specializes in processing industrial aluminum machining scrap, including turnings.

Aluminum Regains Its Footing

Markets for nonferrous metals remain volatile at the start of the summer, though it appears the bias is toward the upside. Nickel and stainless steel markets, however, are among the few exceptions. As of mid-June, several sources say signs point to a pullback in price and demand for nickel and stainless markets.
