Identity theft law takes effect July 1: Alaska News | adn.com

The law, passed last April, requires information-gathering companies to notify consumers when they accidentally release personal information, including Social Security numbers.

While you may take steps to protect yourself against identity theft, an Associated Press investigation has found the banks are not being nearly as cautious as they could.
