Boca Raton, FL – On Saturday, January 26, 2013, the Boca Raton Police Services Department and Microshred Corporation are partnering to host a free shredding event. The event will take place from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Town Center Mall, 6000 West Glades Road, in the northwest corner of the Sears parking lot.
The event is only open to residential households and a maximum of five banker’s sized boxes are allowed per household. Microshred will have document shredding trucks on site and as an added service to residents they will destroy their computer hard drive(s). There will be a $10 fee for each hard drive destroyed that must be paid to Microshred. The hard drive must be removed from the computer prior to arrival.
Officers from the BRPD’s Crime Prevention Unit along with employees from Microshred will be on site to provide expert advice and tips for identity theft prevention. “In 2010, 7.0% of households in the United States, or about 8.6 million households, had at least one member age 12 or older who experienced one or more types of identity theft victimization” (U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics Crime Data Brief November 2011).
Shredding documents is a key step in identity theft prevention. Residents are encouraged to purchase a quality cross cut shredder and to shred all documents that contain any personal information. For additional information contact the Boca Raton Police Department Crime Prevention Unit at 561-347-3938 or visit our website at www.BocaPolice.com.

MicroShred can help.
We can safely and confidentially shred your old, unused, and/or broken electronics, along with any paper documents you may have to dispose of that contain sensitive information.
It is estimated that there are at least 4.4 million PCs and eight million televisions in three million households just in the state Georgia alone. This will eventually become 334,800 tons of e-waste that will end up in our landfills.
Our goal is to promote shredding and recycling of obsolete electronic equipment and documents. Our convenient services can be on-site or off-site and can be personalized to fit your company’s needs. Whether you need a document destruction service on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis – you tell us how often, we’ll be there.
We provide FREE locked security containers which are individually keyed for each client. Plus, at no additional cost, a Certificate of Destruction is provided with every shredding service.
