  • BIR Autumn Roundtables: Fiber Quality Concerns are in the Mix

Posted on October 28th, 2011 admin No comments

Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) Paper Division President Ranjit Baxi of U.K.-based J&H Sales International has expressed concern that, for quality reasons, European recovered fiber exports to China are coming under increasing pressure from material supplied by other regions of the world. If China were to cut back on its imports, Europe was likely to be “the first to suffer,” Baxi told attendees of the BIR Paper Division meeting in Munich in October. Third-quarter GDP growth in China was the slowest in two years, Baxi also noted, calling it proof that even the world’s main driver of demand for recovered fibre has not been immune to the latest economic crisis.
