Posted on September 30th, 2011 No commentsThe American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), Washington, D.C., says domestic consumption of recovered fiber for August 2011 was 2.56 million tons, a 6 percent drop from August 2010. The figures for this August are essentially the same as July 2011’s domestic consumption figures.

Nathan Deal has announced that RockTenn , based in Norcross, Ga., is investing $5 million to expand its corporate headquarters and add 500 jobs. “RockTenn expanding its corporate headquarters here is big news, not only because 500 new jobs will be created, but also because this top Fortune 500 company has chosen Georgia as the best place to keep doing business for years to come,” says Deal.

Envipco Enters German Market
Posted on August 24th, 2011 No commentsEnvipco Holding N.V ., a Dutch company that provides recycling systems and solutions to the beverage and retail industries, has announced the first commercial order of its compactor technology in Europe. Envipco Automaten GmbH, a subsidiary of Envipco Holding N.V, has received an order from a German retail group for 500 compactors based on its new technology.

China Closes 583 Lead Battery Plants
Posted on August 8th, 2011 No commentsA total of 583 lead battery manufacturing plants in China have been closed after government authorities conducted a series of inspections earlier this year in an effort to reduce heavy metal pollution. In a statement, China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) says a total of 1,930 lead battery production, assembly and recycling plants have been inspected as of July 2010. Of these plants, 252 were given permission to continue operating and 80 were still under construction.
