A file containing identifying information for every physician in the country contracted with a Blues-affiliated insurance plan was on a laptop computer stolen from a BlueCross BlueShield Assn. employee.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality plans to survey physician practices and pharmacies to collect statistics on the percentage that have implemented functional e-prescribing systems. With the data collected from the survey, AHRQ officials say they will identify catalysts and hindrances in the adoption of these IT systems.

IdTheftSecrets posted a photo: The study, based on 285 million compromised records from 90 confirmed breaches, suggested many of the data security breaches did not require extensive fixes to plug the leaks.
