Manistique Paper Industries (MPI), Manistique, Mich., has closed its paper mill its operations, filed for bankruptcy protection and is seeking a buyer.

TrynEx International , the Madison Heights, Mich.-based manufacturer of SnowEx, TurfEx and SweepEx product lines, has moved into a new plant in the same city. According to TrynEx, the company chose the new location because it would allow for future expansion and a new manufacturing system through a partnership with the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC). The new building is 130,000 square feet and contains multiple new features designed to improve the assembly and shipping processes.

Schupan & Sons, a scrap metal recycler headquartered in Kalamazoo, Mich., has been recognized by the Kalamazoo, Mich., Regional Chamber of Commerce with its Chamber Environmental award. According to the Chamber, the Environmental Award is presented to a Chamber member person, company or entity that has displayed efforts to improve quality of life for the Kalamazoo region through the betterment of the environment, including the creative use of resources to provide innovative solutions to environmental challenges; design, use or production of innovative products or services that supports a sustainable future; leadership displayed with respect to addressing environmental issues; involvement with public policy issues that help improve quality of life; and, efforts to improve environmental awareness throughout the community and region.
