  • California Governor Signs Apartment Recycling Law

Posted on September 16th, 2011 admin No comments

California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation authored by Assemblyman Bob Blumenfield (D-San Fernando Valley) that establishes the Renter’s Right to Recycle Act which, starting next year, will require apartment owners to provide paper, plastic and can recycling services to their tenants. Assembly Bill (AB) 818 requires the owners of multifamily housing with five or more apartments to provide recycling services to tenants starting in 2012. The law also stipulates that local agencies are prohibited from issuing a building permit to a development project unless the project provides adequate areas for collecting and loading recyclables.
