Posted on December 27th, 2011 No commentsAccording to the Baltimore Sun , RG Steel’s Sparrows Point, Md., steel mill has shut down suddenly as the company struggles to pay its bills and win back customers. Bette Kovach, a spokeswoman for Sparrows Point owner RG Steel, did not return several calls to confirm shuttering of the mill, which employs more than 2,200 workers

Bottle recycler NURRC LLC Lays Off 50 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina
Posted on April 22nd, 2011 No commentsA bottle recycling facility in Spartanburg, partly owned by the Coca-Cola Co., is feeling the squeeze of a tough economy. About 50 employees of NURRC LLC at 5396 N. Blackstock Road have been laid off as Coke’s managing partner at the plant, URRC LLC, is working to restructure the plant’s operations and streamline its Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling business.
