Blumenthal, Biden, Sebelius in Chicago to talk IT

The nation’s healthcare IT chief, David Blumenthal, MD, will join Vice President Joe Biden and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius in Chicago to make the announcement.

Hipaa Security Rule authority moved to Office for Civil Rights
Posted on August 3rd, 2009 No commentsThe Department of Health and Human Services has delegated the authority for the administration and enforcement of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Security Rule to the Office for Civil Rights. The OCR’s administration and enforcement of the security rule, which had previously been delegated to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will eliminate duplication and improve the department’s efforts to ensure that health information privacy is protected.
