China Closes 583 Lead Battery Plants
Posted on August 8th, 2011 No commentsA total of 583 lead battery manufacturing plants in China have been closed after government authorities conducted a series of inspections earlier this year in an effort to reduce heavy metal pollution. In a statement, China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) says a total of 1,930 lead battery production, assembly and recycling plants have been inspected as of July 2010. Of these plants, 252 were given permission to continue operating and 80 were still under construction.

Posted on April 5th, 2011 No commentsAfter the Lantern Festival, the conditions for processors of scrap zinc in the market in general did not return to normal, mainly due to manpower problems. The majority of manufacturers had fewer workers than before the Lantern Festival compared to previous years. Subject to inflationary pressures and increased salaries of workers themselves, more workers stayed home, so even if the orders were normal, operating rates were also affected.

Chinese Paper Company Announces Plan to Build Paper Mill
Posted on March 11th, 2011 No commentsChina Shengda Packaging Group Inc., a Chinese paper company, has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase the land use rights for a 166,533 square meter plot of land in Yancheng City, China for $11.4 million in order to build a paper manufacturing plant. China Shengda Packaging plans to build the new plant in two phases. The first phase, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2011, will entail the construction of 100,000-150,000 metric tons per year of paper capacity and is expected to require capital expenditures of $34.2 million, including the cost of acquiring the land use rights.

ALFED to Co-Host International Aluminium Recycling Conference in China
Posted on January 18th, 2011 No commentsThe Aluminium Federation (ALFED) has announced that it will co-host and jointly organize an International Aluminum Recycling Conference in China, in conjunction with the China National Resources Recycling Association (CRRA). The Conference will be held from May 9-12 at the Intercontinental Hotel, Foshan, near Guangzhou, in Southern China.
