Cell Phone Recycler Receives $35 Million in Financing
Posted on January 3rd, 2012 No commentsThe cell phone recycling company eRecyclingCorps (ERC) has raised $35 million in fundraising led by the venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Menlo Park, Calif. ERC launched in 2009 with original investments from OpenAir Equity Partners and SJF Ventures to help carriers and subscribers recapture a growing portion of the residual value of wireless devices no longer used by subscribers. ERC CEO David Edmondson, former CEO of RadioShack, and Ron LeMay, former CEO of Sprint PCS and current managing director of OpenAir Equity Partners, founded the company.

Posted on January 2nd, 2012 No commentsLars Koller has joined Archdale, N.C.-based Vecoplan LLC , a manufacturer of size reduction equipment, as a sales and project management engineer. Koller brings 10 years of engineering experience from Focke & Co., working first in research and development at the company’s Germany headquarters and then as manager of the design department at Focke’s Whitsett, N.C., facility. Koller’s responsibilities will include coordinating the design and development of turnkey shredding systems for the recycling sector.

Taha Starts Aluminum Dross Processing in New Zealand
Posted on January 2nd, 2012 No commentsTaha Asia Pacific Ltd., the New Zealand subsidiary of Taha International Corp., Bahrain, has begun processing aluminum dross at its newly opened facility in Tiwai, New Zealand. Taha says it is using a mechanical system to extract all the trace aluminum that will then be returned to an aluminum smelter in New Zealand.

Novelis to Add Coating Line at Brazilian Can Plant

Akron Paper Recycler Relocating
Posted on December 28th, 2011 No commentsRecovered fiber and plastic scrap recycling company River Valley Paper Co., Akron, Ohio, is relocating its headquarters location from 210,000-square-feet of leased space in the city to a 132,000-square-foot building the company has purchased in Akron. John Sharp, owner and president of River Valley Paper, says he hopes to complete the relocation by June 2012. While the company is moving into a smaller space, Sharp points out its current space, with narrow hallways and lower ceilings, was not conducive to the company’s operations
